TILL LINDEMANN ARTWORK
08/2021

In July I was working on a Till Lindemann (of Rammstein) piece to sell as a print at The Satanic Flea Market, I posted the artwork on Instagram and was soon DM'd by a representative of Till Lindemann himself! Apparently he liked it and they were looking for some new artwork to use. Originally they asked to buy my existing piece but I didn't want to give up the rights to that as I was quite attached to it and had already advertised that it would be for sale at the market. So they commissioned me to do a different piece. Months passed and I figured that they just decided not to use it, and then this flyer came to my attention late one night in October! I followed the link to his website and lo and behold it is currently being used as the main picture on there to promote his upcoming tour.

MOTORHEAD PAINTING

Dirty Jake Johnson commissioned me to paint a western style Motorhead portrait in black, white and gold, as a present to himself to hang in his music room.











I decided to use gold leaf for the first time instead of using gold paint, I really enjoyed it and I think I would like to utilize it more in my paintings.

HANGOVER SQUARE LP ARTWORK

Thank you to Victoria and Chris for being the first band (other than my own) to commission me to do their album artwork! You can check out Hangover Square and the album 'Painting With An Open Heart' here.

My first job using Procreate on my new iPad Air 4, I felt I had to find an easier solution to working away from home during lockdown, as I spend a month 'bubbling' in London and then coming home to Basingstoke for a month, travelling with art supplies plus all my day to day belongings is too much. It really is a step up from using the XP Pen with Photoshop on my desktop. This is probably more to do with how old my computer is and not being as reponsive. I'm not the greatest Apple fan and it has been a steep learning curve but a very good investment as it really is great to draw with.

I was commissioned to do this piece by a client who wanted it gift it to their partner, who is a big fan. Whilst I know of them I'm not very familiar with this band. She chose the image that he liked but I felt it needed a background, and after a bit of research I decided to incorporate elements from their 1974 eponymous album, as I liked the graphic style and the colour.

PUSSYCAT AND THE DIRTY JOHNSONS 'BEAST' LP ARTWORK

Artwork, concept and design by Puss Johnson, featuring band photos by Oliver Harrison.
My first time using a drawing tablet, I wanted to do something more in a comic book style and felt that medium would work best. I was going for a vampy, androgynous, PVC and fur vibe, drawing on 90s science fiction feels (i.e. The Fifth Element, Blade, etc) with the styling of the photos. For the front cover art I had an idea to somehow incorporate the band name on fanged teeth using blood, with a black glossy lip and the album title being breathed out of the mouth in a hazy smoke. I enjoy how it turned out and look forward to using the drawing tablet more.
For the inside cover I incorporated more of Oliver's photos on film strips, adding spot colour.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a high res photo in better lighing of this painting before I handed it to he client. I decided to use metalic gold and saphire for a bit of extra dimention.

CHRISTOPHER LEE AND LON CHANEY JR PRINT

Chistopher Lee as Dracula and Lon Chaney Jr as The Wolfman, a fangtastic classic horror duo to sink my teeth into! Actually a trio, as this was commissioned by the same client who I did the Boris Karloff Frankenstein's Monster print for in 2017. I believe the set now grace the walls of her bedroom... sweet dreams!

Flattering but rather odd to be commissioned to paint my image amongst these famous women of punk. I enjoyed the freedom of splattering paint as a juxtaposition to my rather rigid line style.

The client missed out on the limited edition band T-shirt, featuring this design from the back cover of the Dirty Rock'N'Roll album, and so commissioned a painting of it. The incorporation of the red splatter emulating the DRNR limited edition vinyl must have been subliminal as I didn't realise until it was pointed out to me!

Artwork, concept and design by Puss Johnson, featuring photos by Debbie Attwell.

The concept was based around a biker jacket theme. The vinyl itself is sliver and black 'haze' effect which I wanted to simulate a greasy engine part and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

The front cover is a nod to Wonder Workshop's 'Wild Thing' leatherette jacket that Iggy Pop wore in 1972 for The Stooges Raw Power album sleeve.

DEAD SONGS was a release of three tracks which where recorded when we went to our friend Alex McGowan's original Space Eko studio in Fulham to record our debut 2010 album 'Exercise Your Demons'. We were still very fond of these tracks which didn't make it onto the album, so we decided to release them as an EP in 2015. Oliver Harrison is a very talented filmmaker, animator and artist. I did this artwork in appreciation of his handsomeness.

Former drummer of Satan's Rats and The Photos, Ollie now makes the soundtracks to his films - an early exponent of kinetic typography, his work has been shown around the world in festival and galleries including: Cannes Film Festival, The New York Film Festival, Tate Modern London and the BFI Southbank.

Nottingham based band Trioxin Cherry commissioned me to do a T-shirt design to accompany the release of their debut album 'Lets Take Off And Nuke The Site From Space'.  The artwork was inspired by their song 'Fly, Bill Murray!'  because... Bill Murray.
